SUSTAINABLE REGENERATION OF AGRICULTURE IN TERRITORIES AFFECTED BY XYLELLA FASTIDIOSA
TASK 5.3 – Open Innovation – Development of a Social Infrastructure of Innovation
DL 5.3.3. – Open Innovation Workshops – Design Thinking
The spread of the bacterium Xylella fastidiosa ssp. Pauca has caused one of the worst phytosanitary emergencies in the world: in fact, it affects an area of more than 7,000 square kilometers and almost completely affects three provinces of the Apulia Region.
Therefore, the need for a research project to prepare a “Sustainable regeneration plan for agriculture in the territories affected by Xylella Fastidiosa” became apparent.
The “Sustainable Regeneration Plan” has the ambition of redesigning the agricultural production systems of the Salento Ionian territory in order to include them in an overall vision aimed at the coming decades through support – durable and compatible – to the most vulnerable and fragile rural communities and to the territorial fabric as a whole (both to prevent their abandonment and to nurture virtuous and sustainable paths flanked by new practices and new models of agricultural development).
